Shared Web Hosting - Platform Overview
Shared Web Hosting Platform Overview
Primus has developed and deployed an advanced, highly redundant, highly scalable, distributed shared web hosting platform.
Shared web hosting platform consists of:
- A gigabit-Ethernet network for massive data throughput
- High-performance, redundant firewalls with automatic failover
- High-performance, redundant load balancers (traffic directors) with automatic failover
- Scalable, highly-reliable back-end file servers for storing customer data with regular data "snapshots" and tape backups
- Distributed, load-balanced (redundant) web and application servers - separate servers for CGI, ASP, Coldfusion, JSP
- Separate database servers for mySQL and MS-SQL
- Separate servers for FTP access
- high scalability allows it to handle massive traffic volumes
- load balancers can identify failed servers (hardware failures) and software failures and redirect traffic to other nodes
- separate database servers for maximum performance and reliability
- load balanced servers allow Primus to upgrade servers without any customer downtime
Shared Web Hosting Hybrid Technology
The Primus shared web hosting platform is also a "hybrid" platform. That is, it supports both UNIX (Linux) based technologies and Microsoft Windows based technologies. These different technologies can be blended together seamlessly on the same website.
For example, a customer could develop parts of their website in any or all of PERL, PHP, ASP, JSP and Coldfusion and all of these languages could read/write data from a backend database.
